Sunday of the 7th Ecumenical Council

The Lord said this parable: "A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell along the path, and was trodden under foot, and the birds of the air devoured it.  And some fell on the rock; and as it grew up, it withered away, because it had no moisture.  And some fell among the thorns; and the thorns grew with it and choked it.  And some fell into good soil and grew, and yielded a hundredfold."  And when his disciples asked him what this parable meant, he said, "To you it has been given to know the secrets of then kingdom of God; but for others they are parables, so that seeing they may not see, and hearing they many not understand.  Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.  The ones along the path are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, that may not believe and be saved......  

3rd Sunday of Luke

At that time, Jesus went to the city called Nain, and his disciples and a great crowd went with him.  As he drew near to the gate of the city, behold, a man who had died was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow; and a large crowd from the city was with her.  And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, "Do not weep."  And he came and touched the bier, and the bearers stood still.  And he said, "Young man, I say to you, arise."  And the dead man sat up, and began to speak.  And he gave him to his mother.  Fear sized them all; and they glorified God, saying, "A great prophet has arisen among us!" and "God has visited his people!"   

2nd Sunday of Luke

The Lord said, "And as you wish that men would do to you, do so to them.  If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you?  For even sinners love those who love them......

But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will sons of the Most High: for he is kind to the ungrateful and the selfish.  Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.

The Lord said: "If anyone wished to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 

Sunday before Holy Cross

The Lord said, "No one has ascended into heaven but he who descended from heaven, the Son of man.  And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.  

10th Sunday of Matthew

Matthew 17:14-23
..He said to them, "Because of your little fatih.  For truly I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move hence to yonder place,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you. 

Taking the five loaves and the two fish...

"We only have five loaves and two fishes."  And he said, Bring them here to me."  Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass; and taking the five loaves and the two fish he looked up to the heaven, and blessed, and broke and gave the loaves to the crowds.  And they all ate and were satisfied.

At that time, as Jesus passed on from there, two blindmen followed him, crying aloud, "Have mercy on us, Son of David."When he entered the house, the blind men came to him; and Jesus said to them,"Do you believe that I am able to do this?" 

Your sins are forgiven.

At that time, getting into  boat Jesus crossed over and came to his own city.  And behold, they brought to him a paralytic, lying on his bed; and when Jesus saw their faith he said to the paralytic, "take heart, may son; your sins are forgiven."

You are the light of the world.

 

 

The Lord said to his disciples, "You are the light of the world.  A dirt set on a hill cannot be hid.  Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but in a stand, and it gives light to all in the house...
